Ferrol and the Industrial Tourism

Ferrol, ca. 1970

In March 2006, the First European Conference of Industrial Tourism was held in Angers (France). In November 2008, Toledo (Spain) hosted the second one in November 2008, and Turin (Italy) was the seat of the third one in October 2010.

We are now coming back of the closure of the Fourth European Conference of Industrial Tourism, hosted this time in the villa of São João da Madeira, Aveiro district of the metropolitan area of Porto, in the neighbourhood of Portugal. And during the closing session of the conference we were informed that within the proposals presented for appointment, it was Ferrol the place chosen for the celebration of the Fifth European Conference of Industrial Tourism by November 2014. It yields that way the seed sown by the end of February 2010 when we held in the city of Ferrol the Fifth Congress for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage and the Public Works in Spain.

All the European Conference editions are targeted to tourist professionals, public authorities, business organisations, tourist consultants, interested companies, industrial heritage associations, University academics and students.

This Conference is expected to boost Industrial Tourism in Spain, particularly in Galicia, by raising the awareness and know-how of the national public bodies and interested companies, as well as promoting networking among them.
