Hidroelectric Power Plant
On an existing mill on the river Eume upstream of the town of As Pontes de García Rodríguez it was built between 1906 and 1908 a new mill, “Prieto’s New Mill”, equipped with a hydraulic turbine for the production of electricity. During the daytime, the electricity generated was consumed in the electric cereal mill that “Prieto y Compañía” owned in the town, at one kilometre of distance. At nigh time, the production of the “light factory” was provided for street lighting in As Pontes’ village.
